When comparing countries in terms of coronavirus deaths, be sure to factor in. . . - Population density - % Black population (higher mortality) - Average age - Island (or nearly an island) - Cultural norms of conformity - Strong states vs. Federal govt. - Vitamin D exposure

Average age in Germany is 46 (US 38). 11 deaths per 100,000. 49 deaths per 100,000 in US. Australia has 295 deaths and the same average age as the US. This point about age is...not good.

Now do the other twenty variables and time travel to the end to let us know how Germany did with their coming waves.

Scott, if you think German Covid deaths are going to quintuple (I guess we’re going to freeze in place) then that’s an even worse point than the age dismissal. Canada has half of our death toll per capita.

These metrics aren't good for comparison. Let's look at a few: Switzerland, Australia, Canada, all have strong Cantons/States/Provinces: 23, 1, 24 deaths per capita. US 49.

Let's take five of the oldest countries: Japan (median age 47), Germany (46), Greece/Hong Kong/Austria (44). Covid deaths per 100,000: .82, 11, 1.97, 52 total deaths, and 8. Again, countries can be at the top or bottom depending on the effectiveness of their response.

@chrisderose is right but he’s making the huge mistake of arguing demonstrable facts and figures with someone who is being weirdly obstinate and contrarian in the face of actual facts. Thank you@chrisderose for trying to be helpful during GD pandemic.2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes
Blocking you for being an ignorant jerk. I replied with a whole blog post.

I tried to help you with an entire blog post of variables you missed and you ignored it and your friend insulted me. You’re both horrible humans. Goodbye.
