Teacher unions are a large part of the problem.https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/u-k-an-economist-looks-at-90-tom-sowell-on-charter-schools-and-their-enemies/ …

Heavy Fed/State regulations on public schools cause teachers to be treated like factory workers, unions are a reaction, imo. Stripping regulations down to bare minimums would create the environment for innovation in education, eliminate need for unions, and introduce competition.

I read the tweet thread about single parent trend that you retweeted. Your characterization of the study result was incorrect. There was a large effect but it was a correlational, and the authors merely said there was no way to infer causation.

The root problem is we have a lot of young black men without proper leadership, who are not staying in school and getting into trouble. How do we solve that?

Scott, you mentioned the belief that decisions by Governors to open up in May/June is what caused cases to go up in those locations. That's a theory, but there is emerging evidence outbreaks are being driven by seasonality, independent of policy...https://twitter.com/kerpen/status/1286663620185792512?s=20 …

Quite similar seasonal/latitude pattern here to what Dr. Edgar Hope-Simpson found for influenza in the WHO data in the 1970s. Though the line seems to be about the 35th parallel North rather than 30th. https://twitter.com/Hold2LLC/status/1286550960190431233 …
