I assume you meant false positives. The hypothesis "this likely explains most new cases" fails any logic: Why are cases rising in the US but not in Western Europe, where we also test a lot and should find a lot of viral debris, as we've been having the virus for quite some time?

Also, why have hospitalizations in the US been on the rise? Viral debris wouldn't be associated with symptoms that would require hospitalizations. Why are deaths starting to rise again in the US, as people wouldn't die from viral debris?
