No science to support mass wearing of masks. The data, recent and old, suggests masks are irrelevant to community spread of both influenza and #coronavirus. So no gov't can reasonably mandate them. Congratulations on your nuptials! (No, I'm not a lawyer.)

Neither of us are qualified to evaluate scientific studies, and science on this topic is unreliable, which makes it a risk management decision. I'm on the "walls work" side of common sense, meaning water droplets with virus stay closer to the exhaler with masks.

gotta agree with you here too scott. like tom said, tons of science say masks don’t work, but tons also say they do. at the end of the day, i’d rather be safe than sorry so i’ll wear one

Did you get tested and confirmed or are you one of those people who had the sniffles early in the year and now swear they had covid

I’m on the other side of the fence. Masks are not effective. The virus is not only in droplets so not all will get stopped.

You contradicted yourself. If it stops droplets, it is at least partly effective in that sense.

The good masks (3m N95) don’t physically filter the airflow. The fibers carry an electrostatic charge which attract the fine droplets and particles to adhere to fibers. That allows a loose (low pressure drop) mesh to capture very fine particles.

am sure you would agree Mask wearers touch mask repeatedly & wear it longer than recommended such that spread through touching surfaces with hands that have touched face ( the main transfer method?) is more likely not less, counteracting benefits re exhaled droplets.

Which means it makes sense to encourage people to wear them if they are indoors public spaces for short periods. We don’t know enough to ask non-medical personnel or the public to wear for long periods day in and day out. Especially kids.
