As an academician with 2 PhDs, I unfortunately have to say I agree with both of you. Thinking oneself an expert leads to inevitable blindness to countervailing evidence and/or cognitive dissonance. We need a genuine return to science—seeking to disprove hypotheses, even my favs

I could go on for hours about the poor writing done by supposedly smart people. Writing in business is poor but in academia shockingly bad. Their writing is more like ego stroking and even colleagues must struggle to understand it. Academicians are credentialed not educated.
