What he's talking about is changing social norms. The standards for what's considered polite conversation are changing. So? They always have, they always will. Crying about it just makes you look kind of silly.

As far as "hateful," I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, but refusing to acknowledge white privilege is essentially the same as refusing to acknowledge that it's harder to be black than white.

That's it. Pretty simple. Everything else being equal, it's harder to be black than white. Refusing to simply acknowledge that basic reality is incredibly tone deaf at best.

I'll only add that I said "borderline hateful" because refusing to acknowledge that white privilege exists is not *quite* an opinion. The facts are there for everyone to see: discrimination in justice, housing, and education systems, for starters.

For a white man to proclaim publicly that "white privilege isn't real" is so ignorant, not just of the facts but of the emotional impact such a statement has on Black Americans. Scott isn't an ignorant guy, so I can only assume his statement was designed to cause pain.

Is it white privilege when a white person is fired because "it's easier to fire a white man" or more difficult to get into college because "we're looking for diversity and are willing to accept less qualified minority candidates"? There are 2 sides to a coin.

Why do certain minorities excel far better than "white people" and others don't? Open your eyes to arguments besides the one that's being fed to you with a spoon. Consider alternative sources for your edification.

Man, I'm going to honest with you. Nobody on the Internet has ever been convinced by someone saying "open your eyes" or "go do your research." If you have a point, make it.

I just made my point and clearly you can't refute it so you make foolish statements about phrases. Let me restate it for you... Why do certain minorities excel far better than "white people" while others don't? I'd LOVE a coherent answer from you.

Sure. The fact that some non-white groups do well doesn't magically mean that all racism everywhere is a myth. "White privilege" doesn't mean all white people do better in every regard, all the time. It just means that, all else being equal, it's easier to be white than not.

Things can be true and irrelevant at the same time. If a poor black kid and a poor white kid are both trapped at the bottom of a well, it doesn't matter if they got there different ways. You still use the same method to get them out.

Screaming white privileged is not a solution. And that seems to be the extent of your ability. I'm an engineer. Define the problem; propose solutions; select best approaches; layout a detailed plan; estimate cost; timeline - details Hampton details.
