This is the sort of irresponsible "science" that damages race relations. There are at least three GIGANTIC problems with this analysis right on the surface. If you don't spot at least three, you are a low-information voter and don't realize it.https://twitter.com/luscombeland/status/1271982618750435329 …

First they did what I call, "foregone conclusion" based research. They also leave out any context beyond race for the arrests. They found no overt racist acts by individual Oakland police but claim, "It is not so much an individual as an institutional problem or pattern"🧐

It certainly looks as if they started with the conclusion and worked backwards.

They also stopped and arrested more men that women. Is that due to discrimination against men?

They forgot the cardinal rule of statistics "correlation does not imply causation", which might be more aptly put "disparity does not imply discrimination" in this case.

What is clear is that once trusted centers of learning like Stanford offer little help on matters of race and class. Their bias is too strong.

Just another Cathy Newman. Jordan Peterson was right - no social scientist worth her salt would take these figures at face value, and conduct single variate analysis to draw conclusions
