These are specific reforms that federal, state, local officials and activists should pursue to make it less likely that the killings like those of #GeorgeFloyd and #BreonnaTaylor happen again. Thanks @justinamash for laying out steps fwd so concisely. #BlackLivesMattters @reasonhttps://twitter.com/justinamash/status/1269709600707788807 …

It's easy. 1/ Ending qualified immunity raises the risk threshold for cops to abuse citizens 2/ Ending tactics like no-knock, forfeiture and militarization change the LEO culture 3/ The drug war, mando minimums and overcriminalization CREATE more crime than they solve.

Obviously we're not aiming for zero. The idea is for a reasonable reduction, not some impossible NO DEATHS EVARR standard.

Throwing cops in prison who do things like this will stop it from happening. And, there is no "systemic racism." The bad cops are just as cruel to all skin colors.

Not sure yet what you're aiming for :) but a lot of sensible reforms have been implemented in the wake of protest movements - without actually coming close to fulfilling the demands of the protestors. The movements just lent the momentum.

Amash is putting forward the policies he supported before Floyd. I happen to agree with them. And Chauvin may have acted differently if qualified immunity was abolished, but I can’t read his mind.
