Not true. I posted a series of tweets critiquing there argument on its substance.

You agreed with her on the central point that the statistics don't make the case, and you don't address elevating "criminals" which is her other major point.

I addressed it in a comment on the thread. Floyd’s character was multidimensional. Yes he did horrible things but he also made attempts to get his life together as can be seen by his involvement in church groups on Houston. The premise that he was merely a criminal is callous.

Her premise was not that he was merely a criminal, and she stated that directly. The premise is that he was ALSO a criminal, and now a hero. Do you disagree that non-criminal heroes work better in the long run?

That’s simply not the human condition. Thomas Jefferson was a one of the most brillaint founders of this country *and also* he was a brutal slave owner and rapist.

If any police victims have accomplishments of that level, we should call that out. That’s good branding. Like MLK. We excuse his imperfections and he’s a great role model.

That’s...not the point. There is no such thing as perfection and one of our most tragic moral failings as a species is to make peace with the fact that we are imperfect. To quote @CherylStrayed, still we are “flawed, imperfect, and yet capable of redemption.”

We task police to perform millions of interactions every year. It's impossible for 100% of those to go 100% correct. Even .005% of those having mistakes or mal-intent is a big horrible number. Chloé, I think you would agree that we must judge our failings by *intent*.
