Suburbs are usually cheaper place to live (rent, taxes, food costs, etc). I bet if you did a cost analysis, you would break even with a car, or be slightly ahead in the long run.

They still are for the most part. Cities created agriculture, trade, manufacturing and financial services. We're not about to get rid of those.

Cities don’t do manufacturing anymore. Trade and financial services don’t need to be tied to cities with modern technology. Agriculture is a tough one. Hmm. How can we have agriculture without Central Park, NY?
