The operation failed. And so did the drug. @PostOpinionspic.twitter.com/0Lt7Y1zUng

I call this irresponsible journalism. There are many people who owe their lives to hydroxychloroquine. And the NIH has started trials. This drug should not be a political football. @StevePhillipsMDhttps://scitechdaily.com/nih-begins-clinical-trial-of-hydroxychloroquine-and-azithromycin-to-treat-covid-19/ …

How do you know that many people owe their lives to this drug? Are you a scientist? Otherwise you are spreading fake news.

I am a scientist. Hydroxychloroquine has negative side effects, and no benefit, in treatment of COVID19, thus far. I also know people in drug companies. It is HIGHLY ILLEGAL, AND OFTEN FINED, to advertise off-label use of drugs, as Trump does for hydroxychloroquine.

All drugs have side effects. To state that #HCQ has no benefit in #COVID19 is incorrect. There is good prospective randomized controlled data, prospective observational data, & large case series data. To favor retrospective garbage data over these is not very scientific.

The gold standard is randomized controlled prospective studies. The benefits of HCG are HUGELY outweighed by its side effect profile. That's not just my opinion. It is also the opinion of the doctors of the CDC and FDA.

Agreed re: well-designed prospective RCT's. There aren't good ones showing lack of efficacy, whereas there are good ones showing benefit. Re: the r/b for HCQ, that's opinion based, despite the ALL CAPS. And CDC/FDA opinions can be wrong.https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-cdc-says-americans-dont-have-to-wear-facemasks-because-of-coronavirus-2020-01-30 …

You are wrong. Again. The clean prospective randomized trials really rule out usage of HCQ for inpatients with COVID19. I do not even think it should be allowed in future trials-it is that bad.

The funny thing about saying I'm wrong repeatedly is that it's meaningless. Show me a single clean prospective randomized trial ruling out the usage of #HCQ in #Covid_19. Just one. Good luck.https://www.advisory.com/daily-briefing/2019/04/03/research-bias …

Which, of course, still means there is a lack of evidence of benefit in treatment on meaningful outcomes (time to test negative, probability of coming off the vent, discharge date, etc).
