Are there other examples in which we do major drug trials while leaving out the active ingredient of the drug being tested from all patients tested? Every time I see a study of HCQ without the zinc, it feels like "masks don't work" all over again.

Hydroxychloroquine is a weak immunosuppressant. Therefore, the recent bad news for this drug also reflects badly on the immunosuppressant called marijuana, which the industry has suggested would prevent COVID-19 precisely for its anti-inflammatory, immunosuppression.
