I find that having someone do work for me who is MORE competent than I am at what they do is a good way to get something done better than I could do it myself. That's why I pay a car mechanic to fix my car rather than trying to do it myself.

Good advice. My parents were successful small business people. My father told me repeatedly to start a business and "be your own boss". I never listened. I wish I had.

I didn’t listen to that advise, until I was fifty. You can still do it. Only the dead are unable to take a risk.

I can understand that someone who does creative work for a living has to do their creative work in whatever way their customer (or boss) says to keep their income flowing. I read that Stephen King worked in a laundry to earn a living while he was writing what he wanted to write.

Scott you keep me sane during my working years. The Dilbert Book on Management was/is the best book on real management in the crazy corporate world.
