Time to end Lockdowns. Lockdowns were put in place to flatten the curve and prevent overloading of healthcare systems. Reality is that the curve is much flatter than feared and well below healthcare capacity. Reopen, mitigate and monitor.pic.twitter.com/6GOTptVsXz

This is illustrative but some backup showing that this is the case in the thread below https://twitter.com/kirentanna/status/1255702955371532289 … @ScottAdamsSays

Seems the prediction models in the US that predicted unbearable load on the medical infrastructure got it awfully wrong. Hospital beds were to be overcapacity and ventilators were to be in deep shortage very soon. Both those have turned out to be completely wrong predictions 👇

      I don't see any backup.

The thread shows 1. California hospitals only half-full and way below projections that were used to impose lockdowns 2. Ventilators supply that was a big point 1 month back is now surplus enough to be exported Shows that medical systems are not overwhelmed at all.

My question is what makes the curve go down in any scenario toward the end? Herd immunity only?

It's done by breaking the chain of infection. When contagious, you have an option to infect others. The option expires eventually. Call it Ti. If average time to infect another person > Ti, infection fizzles out. "Herd immunity" is the wrong frame.

That is not the strategy. Because it wouldn't work with this virus anyway. Too catchy.

Catchy and spread by asymptomatic ppl so can't trace and isolate effectively

The spread from asymptomatic people is rare per recent data. The new rule should be if you are showing ANY symptoms, you stay home, period. Others are safe to work/live with social distancing.
