True. But ask yourself if winning was an option. The crisis asks our leader to decide who among us lives and who dies. The presidency is the wrong tool for that job.https://twitter.com/Cernovich/status/1257705963043164160 …

Trump lost the messaging war on coronavirus in a way that I've never seen.

Yes, the winning play was to get to coronavirus early, lay marker on the table, and then if Dems don't come to heel, you lay blame to them. Instead Trump was outmaneuvered, and Dems took the winning play.pic.twitter.com/fYPRTik7Rl

Getting to it early depended on knowing it was the smart thing to do, which was not yet known. Closing flights was an easy risk management move, and correct. I don't think messaging was his problem early on so much as believing Fauci.

Pandemic is high risk, low probably event, meaning it's worth a hedge vs. "It's great," all-in messaging.

Describe the hedge that made sense, given what experts were telling Trump then. You mean just words?

Regardless of which hedge, in terms of messaging, Trump put out there it would’ve been “wrong” because the media would’ve leaned in the other direction. He would’ve “lost” on messaging either way.

Trump was in a no win situation. He did the only thing he could. The experts were positioned to be the experts.

I think @Cernovich is "hind-casting" based on where we are today. IMO, Trump's decisions - at the time - properly balanced the future risks against the "knowns."
