@ScottAdamsSays I think this all comes down to the language used. Americans have this (slightly weird) habit of using brand names in place of nouns. E.g saying "can you pass me a kleenex?" when the actual word is "tissue". Or "Qtip" instead of "cotton swab" (1/2)

So when Trump said "disinfectant" they automatically assumed he meant "Clorox/Lysol" because that's the brand they associate the term with instead of looking at the actual broader definition of the word. I really think that's the source of this confusion. Thoughts? (2/2)

Cognitive dissonance = trying to describe attempts at mind-reading as "considering the context". Trump described a disinfectant that could kill the virus on surfaces and asked if something like that could be injected to clean the body. That's the appropriate context.
