Well there was a published paper from China that PCR testing could yield as much as 80% false positives. The english version was retracted for "ethical reasons", the original paper is still available

I think now that we have private companies like Abbott and others creating tests, we have a higher probability of accuracy compared to when the CDC was the only option.

According to my brother who is a pathologist, false positives are virtually nil. False negs depend on type of test, and range from 5% to 20%.
