If 43% of people with #Coronavirus never show symptoms (per a recent study), what does that likely tell us about the virus?

If lifestyle is the key to why some otherwise healthy people under 70 die while others have no symptoms, would we not have noticed that glaring variable by now? Seems like it would stick out.

The recent study I mentioned noted viral loads were similar in people with symptoms and without. But outcomes differed.

If the survivors all got a weak form of the virus while the deceased got the strong one, I think we would know that by now too.

Process of elimination suggests genetic variables are likely the difference between life and death, at least for the healthy(ish) public.

Compared to our other tools for battling the virus, can genetic testing scale up the fastest? It is merely a spit test. I’d like a lot more visibility on scalability. Seems like the fastest way to plunge death counts.

Identify and prioritize the genetically vulnerable, pump them full of convalescent blood serum and HCQ (with consent, obvi), and open the economy. Experts: What am I getting wrong in this line of thinking?

The press conference on Friday spoke about technical challenges of testing. Very complicated. Said “we’ll never be able to test everyone everyday.”

Wellknown fact: Spit is clean with most patients one to two weeks after infections, still, lungs can be massively infected. This test would merely identify some of fresh infections.

The issue is how many months will it take before we identify the genetic markers for mild illness? Genetic testing is the easy part.

23andme is trying to do this. They have a survey that folks can take if they have COVID-19. I doubt they have information on anyone who died of it though and w/o that it seems difficult. They should share their data and see if we can get data on those it killed elsewhere.

Italian doctors think they have discovered that we have been treating patients all wrong. that it is not a pulmonary problem but a coagulation issue. Vents are mostly useless, and steroids/cortisone is needed. After 50+ autopsies.https://twitter.com/sarainitaly/status/1251897271194714112?s=19 …

They are saying in Italy now, after many autopsies, that Coronavirus is not a pulmonary disease but a blood clotting disease. Ventilators are not what is needed, but anticoagulants/steroids, etc. People who were treated like rheumatoid arthritis got better.
