Based on what we now understand about #coronavirus, it seems clear to me the consensus of opinion in the country is that losing a few hundred thousand people (or fewer if we are clever) is an acceptable price for reopening the economy. I'm in a higher risk category and agree.

He means how did you arrive at the conclusion that there is a consensus among 330 million people that what you feel is obvious they also agree with? The polling numbers don’t suggest it.

Assisted care facilities are very vulnerable but most of the residents who die from corona would die in the next year or two regardless. Numbers need to be broken down. A virus that kills kids and healthy young adults is very scary. A death of a sick elderly person not so much.
