The sooner the public realizes we will need to choose between freedom and privacy, the faster we can recover. #coronavirus

My assumption is that we will never be safe from viruses or terrorism unless we give up privacy to gain that protection. For example, our only way past #coronavirus might involve aggressive contact tracing via phone.

Students of history will say losing our privacy is a fast track to losing all of our freedoms. But that only happens if people running the government keep their privacy while you lose yours. I don't favor that.

I can imagine a system in which we are all anonymously tracked for virus tracing purposes. The algorithm could spit out text messages warning people of contact with the infected without any human being aware of the specifics. Maybe have some bipartisan oversight too.

My point is that we probably no longer have the option of maintaining both our freedom and our personal privacy in the same fashion as the past. But I think we can be smart enough to limit the downside risk.

I've noticed that the people who know the least about it think it is the safest. Probably a coincidence.

My answer has more to do with how confident I am with the prospect of surviving a post-apocalypse scenario where the economy is destroyed.

Why do you think it will be more difficult to make this virus manageable than convincing the public that everyone must give up a certain portion of their privacy?

Indeed. BS models, phony numbers, and scientists with agends that we treat like oracle's. Let's all be honest and admit nothing adds up here. That means we need to dig deeper for the story we are being distracted from.
