The sooner the public realizes we will need to choose between freedom and privacy, the faster we can recover. #coronavirus

Students of history will say losing our privacy is a fast track to losing all of our freedoms. But that only happens if people running the government keep their privacy while you lose yours. I don't favor that.

I can imagine a system in which we are all anonymously tracked for virus tracing purposes. The algorithm could spit out text messages warning people of contact with the infected without any human being aware of the specifics. Maybe have some bipartisan oversight too.

My point is that we probably no longer have the option of maintaining both our freedom and our personal privacy in the same fashion as the past. But I think we can be smart enough to limit the downside risk.

Correct if you had stopped after "we will never be safe from viruses or terrorism". Everything after that was wishful thinking. These solutions you pursue with ever increasing control & management of people will fail. Just as we can't control the sun, we can't control viruses.
