Funny u say that now. We were told w 100% certainty that such & such would happen if we did not act immediately, & all policy action was based on models. Not only that, we who stood up to "expert modeling consensus" were relentlessly attacked as "deniers." https://twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1248610181597900803?s=20 …

You can't have it both ways, folks. You can't say prediction models were meant as guidelines when you were demanding people obey the models as if they were accurate to a tee.

Yes, you can. The models say, "Something potentially big and scary is heading this way," and you deal with the risk AS IF it were certain, because that's how preparation works.

Something big and scary is ALWAYS heading this way. Global cooling; global warming Arctic Sea ice depletion; ozone depletion; AIDS; global famine; peak oil; acid rain; DDT; sea level rise; cholesterol; mass extinction. We fail to look at the data then go full Chicken Little.

Actually we looked at the data and mitigated some of those. We are yet to deal with others.

Global warming is a slow-moving problem with lots of time for technological breakthroughs. With the virus, we didn't have time to sit back and wait on medical treatments and vaccines. When a tsunami is coming, you better get off the beach.

Which part of "preparation" involves killing the economy? We long had evidence children were not affected by COVID-19, yet all schools were closed to protect them. The seasonal flu kills children every year without anyone noticing. We accept that risk. What about next year?

What is b.s. is "you deal with the risk AS IF it were certain". That conclusion cannot be derived from rational thought!
