The #coronavirus Task Force is 100% failing in informing the public how much PPE and ventilators we will need at peak, how many we have, and what is on the way. Pathetic.

How would they know if it's 2% or 150%? Tell us how they will find that out?
-
I don’t think they have enough good data to make these decisions. That is why they are not giving it to anyone.

The IHME model has estimates of the need nationally and for each state.https://covid19.healthdata.org/projections

You can't know that unless you can predict how much you would need. And since the predictions so far have been ridiculously inaccurate so there's no way to know that.

As said in todays briefing, people are calling saying they need thousands of ventilators but the data says they dont..its panic

I think your expectations are unrealistic. The number of people requiring ventilators, for example, will depend on a thousand variables... how the virus reacts to warm weather, efficacy and availability of drugs to treat the virus, degree of compliance to quarantine orders, etc.

Tucker Carlson is interviewing the head of Florida’s emergency services about 3M is selling masks to foreign buyers first. Worth a look. Is there anyone among your vast audience that could get a senior Administration official to call the CEO of 3M, and introduce him to the DPA?

Scott, there's no guarantee of a win here. The needs are amorphous. They are doing what they can to match supply with shortfall, encourage production. I'm not sure what they are doing is enough, not sure it was ever going to be enough. We got caught with our pants down.

What is needed is a fluid number not derived from any applicable experience at this point. 150% wastes resources. Have to be closer than that. In the operating room. Whether we have enough blood on hand is a guess based on prior experience. Would be different in a trauma center

There's a sticky fog of war on son many aspects of this everywhere. But what I see as hot topics on twitter tends to translate into public response a few days later. Your take on twitter democracy illustrated. Keep on pushing the issues Scott, you look efficient!
