Doctors suspect hydroxychloroquine+Azythromicin might work best if taken before infection, or early on. But I'll bet the drug trials are only for patients with more advanced infections. My logic here is that it would be the dumbest thing we could do, so. . . probably.

I was under the impression COVID brings about pneumonia symptoms in the most vulnerable and that’s what is mostly responsible for the high mortality rate.

That's why we're hopeful that they find something very quickly that can be used in the circumstances we're under... It's a throw spaghetti against the wall and see what sticks situation, and devil take the hindmost. The people I know are doing all they can to save lives :-)

I notice resistance to it from people who have a vested interest in a possible vaccine, like Fauci.

Surely a country like South Korea (which was hit hard early) has now accumulated significant amounts of data on the use of hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19.
