Thought experiment: If world-class doctors confer with world-class economists on how to handle a pandemic and come to opposite conclusions, whose advice should you take? Explain why. #Coronavirus

Economists - Doctors are so very compartmentalized. Doctors do not know how the supply chains work as they delegate those tasks to maintenance and procurement. An economist can see a much bigger picture as money is moved and governments react.

Never thought I'd face a situation where I'd trust an economist's judgment over a doctor's, but here we are.

Lol. World class economists also predicted that if Trump wins 2016 economy will tank. Economists have also been wrong with major predictions.

I would trust people like @balajis who have both medical and business training so that they can have a holistic picture.

Disagree. Put three economists in one room and get five answers. My opinion stands. Listen to both because they're solving for different things. Also because economists treat people as abstractions. Biggest current controversy in the field.

I've been following doctors AND an economist on COVID19 for two months. The economist wins, hands-down. His coverage was more thorough and precise, and his sources were world-wide.https://www.youtube.com/user/ChrisMartensondotcom/videos …

Chris is an unusual economist though, he is also a pathologist. But agree, he’s been a great resource!

Doctors are also trained to be extremely risk averse medically, because they have a fear of being sued. They're not trained in comprehensive risk management.

I recall the economists talking about the disruption in supply chains and currency fluctuation long before the WHO called this a pandemic.
