Most of the millions that are laid off will be in low paying jobs in restaurants, hotels etc, living paycheck to paycheck. You're preaching from an ivory tower.

The low pay, paycheck-to-paycheck life wouldn't be so bad if it didn't mean scraping by in survival mode, leading to all sorts of desperation-driven madness. Universal basic income is part of the solution.
