OMG! The world is shutting down based in large part on Italy’s flawed Coronavirus death count. This is such a DISASTER! In essence the report says that Italy is counting Coronavirus deaths even those who have many other health issues (and were anyway on the way out).https://twitter.com/kerpen/status/1241501750030471175 …

According to Prof Walter Ricciardi, scientific adviser to Italy’s minister of health, only 12% of the listed Coronavirus deaths R Coronvirus. The rest are people who were anyway dying but also happen to have Coronvirus. Folks, we need prudent steps; not panic-driven freak shows.

Explain how a counting error made so many more people sick and dying at the same time until it overwhelmed their hospitals. And same for other countries.

Unclear hospitalization problem has occurred worldwide. Most stories for most countries (except China early & Italy recently) are about fears it will happen, rather than evidence it has happened. Per death rate, this suggests death rate increase constant.https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/ITA/italy/death-rate …

The healthcare drain worldwide, SO FAR, is bigger than anything we have seen, and we are nowhere near the expected top. The flu doesn’t do that.

Do you mind if I ask which state your family works in? So far anecdotally I brought my sister to an LI-NY hospital to see her newborn, calm outside (not apocalyptic). Asked my family how many covid infections they personally know, 0. Asked how many ppl job losses/ cut hrs = 10+

That's the thing: not clear there has been a unique "healthcare drain" on the scope/scale projected/predicted. Mostly it's media predicting it will happen, rather than has happened, w/ notable exceptions of northern Italy, Daegu in SK, & Wuhan for a period of time.

2 days of slowing new cases and 1 day of slowing new deaths. So that's nice. Although slowing cases may be artificial, 19th & 20th proceeded a 5-6 day backlog in 1-2 days. We'll see next few days the real new case curve.

To this point, I have not heard anyone talk about how the milder strains of the coronavirus will be naturally selected (bc they don't kill their hosts) over time and become less severe like they have with influenza.

We keep getting promised and told “just wait for 10 days” or “2 weeks” and on and on. Remember when “Washington State will be the next Italy” was being talked about 2-3 weeks ago? Weeks have gone by and it’s just not happening. The numbers aren’t there.
