there are some probs with the study from France: They didnt randomize the study and the chloroquin needs to get into the lungs to help(it usually goes into the intestine)

I took it as a preventative yrs ago before and after traveling to China. A pointless anecdote I know, but its use is routine. Definitely a risk/benefit calculation doctors have already been making.

Hydrocloroquine has less side effects and seems to work somewhat better.

You are correct, and that's why I qualified my statement with for those "with 'mild' COVID-19" cases. But that doesn't mean someone shouldn't take they drug if they're sick, just keep potential side effects in mind if all you have is the sniffles, or not symptoms at all.
