It wouldn't change much of anything in terms of experience. Almost no one pays with cash... so it would be like everyone using Google Pay or Apple Pay or a credit / debit card. Issuing a digital currency still requires an app or a device ( like a card) to hold balances.

All fiat currency eventually goes to zero and that would be the most fiat fiat of all.

Agreed. The opposite is deflationary currencies like gold and Bitcoin that lead to hoarding (you expect the price to go up so you are incentivized the spend). The future is fiat that inflated and deflated relative to GDP in a decentralized way. Facilitating transactions.
