One positive from this emergency may be that in cases of unnecessary length of training /education can be trimmed down to make sense.

This is the key point. In non-emergency times, training scales to a pre-determined timeframe based on semesters. Compared to other forms of training (military/vocational) that scale to the task. It’s one thing to train a nurse, it is another to train a person on a specific task

Take existing med students or recent graduates and train them on this fast, no matter what their medical field of study was -- they would pick it up much faster since they trained in the field.
