The truth will play out. On the other side of it is a crushed economy. It feels like fear of the coronavirus is being used to do just that.

Why are we treating Italy as our base case given the difference in age, pollution, cultural social distancing etc. Isn’t Korea a better model for base case of what happens in US? N Italy is also much “closer” to Wuhan industrially while we have had timely band

"...not artists/writers/musicians..." Funny, I keep giving Doom-casters same recommendation of who not to listen to on this. I also add lawyers for good measure. I disagree on your core assumption that right comparison is Italy flu vs. Italy CV. Specious reasoning. We'll see!

“We’ll see” isn’t helpful. When the choice is statistically take action or gamble on death, the answer is pretty simple.

I'm sorry but how is Italy the correct comparison? It's a nearly failed state, horrible infrastructure, and had a massive influx of Chinese immigrants from the region where the virus originated. If anything, Italy is an outlier.

Average age of death from virus in Italy is 80. Beds are clogged by their extremely aged population. It’s a poor analog.
