it turns out that 98% of the cases that require intubation on a ventilator die. If that is what they are doing to keep you alive, it is likely that you won't be living much longer. Sorry no link but I saw the statistics and remembered this one.

If the design is released publicly and manufacturers can tool up quickly it could happen. Tools for manufacturing however are very expensive. Especially if there made in the USA.
