If this were no worse than a normal flu, Italian hospitals would not be piling corpses like firewood and you wouldn't hear of so many Iranian leaders dying in a week. https://twitter.com/mitchellvii/status/1237791597770743808 …

That doesn’t have to happen here. It can be worse than the flu but not as bad for us as Italy where they have ~80% of their cases in people 51 and older and ~40% of cases over 70. For South Korea by comparison its 40% and 9%. The Italy lesson is focus prevention on the elderly.

When you have socialized free medicine people run to the hospital when they have nothing that's a problem should be dealt with at a hospital. I think the run on the hospital is because of socialized medicine

Is it possible in your view that the hospitals are potentially overrun because of overhyped media and influencers scaring the shit out of people? If America gets over 12,000 deaths in a similar time frame as 2009 flu I will start to take more notice. Right now just preparing.

Considering the long incubation period, and mostly only upper ages individuals are at higher risk for hospitalization. Would it be possible that the hospital/clinic overrun be stemmed by the different timings of cases going critical? I could certainly see drive up testing working

The test takes 3 days in the hospital compared to a flu test a few hours outpatient. Then a positive means weeks in the hospital where the flu is a few days at home. There is no hospital system designed for this.
