Italy has 10K reported cases in a country of 62 million people. They’ve had 632 reported deaths. We shouldn’t ignore that fact, but this is not the “zombie apocalypse” despite many trying to make it so.

Italy has the second oldest population of any country in the world. They also have more travelers from China than most other countries.

Japan being number one, when it comes to the older population. And being closer to China than Italy. Yet they are managing cases a lot better. Maybe because of their social distancing measures and large testing abilities?
