Face masks don't work, so please stop hoarding them or else medical professionals will not have access to the stuff that doesn't work.

Face masks are to keep them from infecting people they’re working on. They also wear gloves for the same reason.

Face masks stop stuff in only one direction? I was not aware of that.

Depending on the type of face mask, yes. There are different designs for different applications. Many masks include a check valve to allow free air flow past the filter going one direction.

What happens if you wear them in reverse then?

had this discussion with some medical peers the other day. Not true that masks are “one way”. It’s the concept that it keeps the droplets from going out onto people. A mask by the general public doesn’t keep stuff off your other skin.

N95 respirators with exhale valve only help the wearer. That's why they're worn by healthy healthcare workers during a pandemic.

Unless you see some medical qualifications, Scott, nobody you’re talking to on twitter knows what they’re taking about WRT masks. I was an EMT for years. We had ours specially fitted, tested, and we knew when and how to wear them. We also knew how ineffective they were to viruses

All these masks are doing is giving people a false sense of security. I constantly see members of the public wearing them incorrectly. They’re going to be among the first to get sick, or spread the infection to others, because the masks aren’t helping at all.

Face masks for the most part keep you from harming vulnerable people. I had to wear one while visiting a relative with cancer. The relative with cancer didn't wear one. It would have been a waste of time.

Surgical masks worn by doctors protect the patient. Not the doctor. N95 protects the person wearing it not people around them. You need to wear both during a pandemic. Surgical mask will also prolong the life of the n95.

Covid19 is smaller than what an n95 mask can block unless it’s attached to a droplet. I have n99 respirators for each family member.
