What do China, Iran, South Korea, and Italy have in common besides the worst #Coronavirus outbreaks? They also have the worst air quality. Does pollution carry an airborne virus farther?

Seattle air is damn good. Be interesting to see what happens once we (finally) get rapid testing in place.

For the record, I suspect air pollution impacts severity rate (as does smoking) but will likely not be a major factor in spread.

I'm interested in watching how Italy's medical system handles the outbreaks because the WHO ranks them as having the 2nd best healthcare system in the world behind France.

There is plenty of literature that correlates chronic exposure to "dust", PM2.5 and PM10, to a shortened life expectancy.

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness. When I was in Guangzhou in 2000, it took me a month to recover from coughing due to the bad pollution in the city. Not surprisingly high pollution would weaken the lungs and make COVID-19 worse. Chinese smoke a lot too.
