Can someone smart explain to me how ANY annual virus stops before it infects most of the planet?

It seems to have to do with humidity. Allegedly, water particles bind the virus and fall to the ground, making it less likely to infect somebody. Would it work with the virus as tiny as this one is described to be? dunno. Aand cold and lack of sun suppresses the immune system

If that were true, would we not be increasing the humidity of our indoor spaces to suppress it?

Our indoor spaces our humidified to some extent just by being enclosed. A more interesting question — if higher humidity suppresses virus (which science seems to show), could wearing masks prevent illness not by physically blocking virus, but by humidifying the air we breathe?

I'm told (unreliably) that it is one of the ways the mask protects.
