I guess that is unfair. After all, its not like we are living with the consequences of those mistakes. I'll ask again, where is the humility that comes with admitting a mistake and the resolve to learn from it? And people wonder how "elites" keep making the same mistakes?

Plenty of people were saying that Iraq had no capacity to project power across its borders, & whatever "threat" Iraq might have posed paled in comparison to the risks associated with the greatly improved strategic position Iran would have after any Iraq invasion.
