A well-designed market for betting on climate change would allow the communities at greatest risk to buy insurance and literally transfer wealth from the ignorant to the knowledgeable.

Insurance rates get adjusted every 12months, they should be fine regardless of climate future

Too many confounding factors. Interestingly, the major reinsurers (GenRe, MunichRe) haven’t really budged over climate change predictions.

Climate change could be an excuse to raise rates AND scare people into buying more. What did you say about what people will do when there's a lot of money to be made with little risk of getting caught?

Slightly OT: "Are climate models like economics models? I don’t have a lot of faith in the exact predictive powers of climate models, or economic models, but uncertainty about outcomes should make us worry more not less. Uncertainty usually has two tails."https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2008/08/are-climate-mod.html …

I’m more concerned that my healthcare cost in CA is up 100%, Obama never tried to reduce the cost of the system, not drugs, that’s obvious, health insurance companies and operators have a yoy 13% earnings growth. Obama failed.
