@ScottAdamsSays China is larger than the continental US, so: Imagine there were a (relatively contained) scary flu outbreak in the middle of Tennessee: would you expect other countries to immediately stop air travel to places like Portland or Seattle?

They took on flight from the region of the outbreak a few days ago...China airlines flight...now one man from that flight is confirmed with the virus in Victoria Australia.. Not good.

Problem is that it’s getting to be a worldwide problem. Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan are getting quite a few cases as well. It will likely mutate to be something stronger and more contagious. Its almost up to 3000 reported. Its daytime over there so new reports are coming in rapidly.

It’s a potential pandemic. Too risky not to block direct and indirect flights from China.

The N95 face masks are running out on Amazon. Its recommended for Coronavirus along with medical gloves and goggles.
-
Face masks do essentially nothing to protect the wearer - they are to protect others *from* the wearer. If you’re not sick you don’t need to wear a face mask unless as a form of sympathetic magic/virtue signaling/fashion statement.

IMO the toothpaste is already out of the tube on this one. In 30 days all of China will be under quarantine. Just a matter of how many other countries will have to join them.

This virology model explains why China has little choice but the quarantine the country if this isn't contained by end of this week. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fz7EwlAJjrZs708YGPym1Xj_3PmysukL/view?usp=drivesdk …

That works for direct flights, not major hubs unless there’s multinational coordination closing flights from China to said hubs. Else you’d have to screen passengers based on origin.
-
And you would.

The arrogance and greed amongst people not wanting to temporarily suspend travel from China because of muh economic reason is disturbing. Im with you Scott Unfortunately many decision makers lack common sense and/or care about society as a whole
