1. I worked with Anna Zaitsev (Berkely postdoc) to study YouTube recommendation radicalization. We painstakingly collected and grouped channels (768) and recommendations (23M) and found that the algo has a deradicalizing influence.

"algorithm actively discourages viewers" I thought you perceived it to be the algorithm? Obviously I've misunderstood the nuances. Or this whole study :) Or your problem is different.

The study is garbage, just like Scott’s takes. They weren’t even logged in when trying to study the algo so they aren’t studying how it would effect any individuals, especially over time.
