Just brainstorming here, but I wonder if one could build a market around betting on the success (but never the failure) of the hard-to-employ. Let's say I know a recovering addict who would be a good worker but employers disagree. . .

Could I buy a surety bond payable to the employer in the event the employee doesn't work out, but get a headhunter fee after a year if things go well? In a tight labor market, this arrangement would allow anyone to champion a hard-to-employ person they have personally observed...

and trust. Like any other kind of investment, you'd want to have an easy way to diversify risk. So instead of betting on any one hard-to-employ person, perhaps there would be curated groups as well.

The whole thing could be managed through an app. One can also imagine part of the investment strategy is to provide your group of hard-to-employ people with great advice, mental health care and addiction support, for example. Government wouldn't be involved.

This is another example of the Golden Age, which I define as a time in which society does not have shortages of critical goods and services so much as it has a need for new and better systems.

Immigration destroys the chances of the hard to employ. Better to get a young foreigner than deal with an American day Democrats

Or perhaps a private equity-like approach. A group makes equity investments in people for a share of future earnings. The individuals get the best tools, rehab, education or other elements to make them successful. Not all will succeed, but the “fund” will 👆🏼👆🏼success rates.

Scott I think you should clarify this applies to all hard to employ types not just reformed substance abusers. For example people can't work traditional schedules or have other issues.

Brilliant. Have them complete JordanPeterson’s future authoring exercise and use those as a guide on those most likely to rehabilitate and succeed. In 2 years it has done wonders for me

This would be a novel way for providing non-business owners incentive to invest in the labor market.

I would say high risk employee insurance funded by charity. Something tasked to make the most efficient use of the dollars possible.

This fits well in another concept about building new, low-cost communities with opportunity to OWN the house. I’m working with a team that is in the early stages of doing this in Arizona.

I don't know if you are being serious, but this type of thinking is actually what we need!! I have long believed that when you incentivize anything that you start to get results.

I get a dopamine hit or two just thinking about these ideas. Where can I make a bet that you're next book will be titled THE GOLDEN AGE? I'd buy it.
