Wouldn't have worked so well at the time of the "Common Sense", "Poor Richard's Almanack", or the "Federalist Papers". Anonymity is annoying, but not all of us are at freedom to speak safely with our own names, if nothing else for concern about employment.

What would the filter be then as I’m not aware of a data element in a Twitter profile that yet exists that can confirm that a non-anonymous real human is behind an account? PS: I may not agree on politics, but your strips are often hilariously dead on - thank you.

Just brainstorming, but what if there were a lower level of "verified" in which you upload your ID and you have to use the matching name in your profile? Still subject to identity theft, but would cut trolls by 95% when the filter is on.
