I already pointed out that I'm a nuclear engineer, so you're misrepresenting me here. But even so, why does lack of appreciation of artists mean that you DON'T have a deficiency in it? You think art isn't critical of things in its context?

While there certainly is overlap, it is hard to argue that most people are either predominantly left-brained or predominantly right-brained. One can say that without making a value judgment as to which one is universally superior (that varies with the situational task at hand).

The left- vs. right-brained concept is a complete myth and further promotes the hyper-specialization of our society

I was about to post this. That picture of brain lateralization is super outdated.

To be clear, I used the terms in their colloquial meaning, not as some sort of a biological fact -- 'left-brained' meaning people with a dominant tendency to draw data driven logical inferences, and 'right-brained' meaning people with a dominant impressionistic bent of mind.

The left and right brained tendencies are predominantly acquired through training and practice. The kind of disciplines one majors in, the kind of vocations one is employed in, the kind of social activities one indulges in, all have a bearing on shaping our modes of thinking.

Where does a history major fit in to the left brain/right brain schema?

It isn’t a left-right thing either biologically or politically.

“I have a schema that carves thinking styles up into one type or the other. STEM or artist, left brain or right brain.” “Where does history fit in?” “Nowhere.” Hmm.
