When Dilbert creator Scott Adams supported Trump in 2016, he estimated he lost about 30 percent of his income and 75 percent of his friends. Could the conversation have been different on a more 'civil' internet?https://wired.trib.al/3OTmK9T

Remember when he went on MetaFilter as a sock puppet to argue that he’s a genius?

Some of the facts are accurate, but framed to be fake news. I often used an alias to correct fake news about me online (such as you are spreading now). In the case referenced, I was correcting a rumor I was a Holocaust denier. It's easier using an alias (and way funnier).

You were using a sock puppet account to claim that you were a genius. That's just sad, man. pic.twitter.com/dF7PIXZX2J You literally had your "alias"
say "he [sic] has a certified genius IQ". Think: what kind of person needs to do this?

That post provides crucial insight into the kind of interaction Adams wants to have online. People should hate him (because he's so great) but still sing his praises. Also we should encourage him to keep being shitty to us because it's so tremendously interesting.

I love how Scott repeatedly slaps these trolls as they pop up. It’s entertaining for him and for us.0 replies 0 retweets 3 likesThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
