Before the trolls rush in to say, "Rifles can't beat tanks," tell that to the Taliban. They'll still be there when we leave. In the event our own military turns on us (deeply unlikely), guns would be used to hold family members of the military hostage, I assume.

“Why would you want to own one of those things, anyway?” please don’t be surprised if they simply respond, “Why wouldn’t you?” Same argument as climate change people asking why take a chance? But with easy to follow maths though.
-
Incorrect. Guns are not a limited resource (in a practical sense). Money to solve climate change is limited. So one must compare expenses for that potential disaster against other potential disasters (pandemics, economic collapse, nuclear war, EMT attack, asteroids, etc.)

All you have to do is look at Venezuela. After they banned guns, the government had complete control over the citizens & can do anything they want to them. It’s a hard lesson.

You do not need to stack tanks. Tanks need fuel and ammunition, tankers need food and sleep. As any good insurgency knows, you attack where the enemy is weak. In a hostile land, the logistics are vulnerable. And the partisans of WW2 and any other guerilla fight.

A good example is the "Winter War" when Russia invaded Finland.

Actually, the article specifically takes into account the United States. And then also other first world nations, like France, Italy, Germany.
