Um, it's called "crediting" person for their ideas. For ex, I don't write "research says..."l I name the researcher who did the work. Goals vs. systems comes from work by Arie Kruglanski, but Scott gave a great way to think about it in his book & on my podcast. So I quoted him.

It’s not so crazy that smart people have similar ideas and they come at problems from similar angles. I’d say the goals v systems concepts in your and Scott’s books are an example.

That's true re: similar ideas, but not case here. 1. Goals/systems theory was Arie Kruglanski's, 2002. 2. Scott wrote about goals vs. systems, prob hearing of it somewhere. I credited researcher who came up w/it & quoted great example that Scott gave, making it understandable.

Can confirm I never heard of systems versus goals until I thought of it. But I can also confirm that good ideas tend to emerge around the same general time by different people. When Newton invented calculus, it was being invented elsewhere at the same time.
