Everyone is still thinking past the sale. Trump asked Zelensky to do an investigation for which many U.S. citizens also had a legitimate interest. That makes it "doing his job," and the alleged "bribery" is routine leader-to-leader stuff.https://twitter.com/ByronYork/status/1199690287553089536 …

Democratic focus groups aside, bribery could be a hard sell, much less attempted bribery. From one decidedly anti-Trump commentator: http://ow.ly/OXtM30pWXyz  https://twitter.com/AnthonyJAlberta/status/1199688574540468225 … pic.twitter.com/p7jVkMXJaf

Anti-Trumpers are confusing (purposeful?) an exercise of power with an abuse of power. Probably because they see any power used by Trump at all as illegitimate since they don't agree that he even won the election. How dare he do what the election enables him to do?

It’s an abuse of power because they weren’t his funds to hold. Congress appropriated the funds. Trump’s job is to execute that distribution. The crime was to hold those funds in exchange for a political favor. Soliciting the favor was also a criminal violation, BTW.

Last time I checked Americans elect chief executives with separate powers granted by Article II of the US Constitution not rubber stamps of the legislative body as in a Parlimentary system. With those powers comes a certain amount of leeway called discretion.

Please cite the part of the Constitution where the President has “discretion” to disregard the Law. We have a President, not a King.

So are you alleging Trump did not give Ukraine the aid. Funny I heard they got it.

No, I am asserting, based on the sworn testimony of several witnesses, that the President withheld the aid as leverage against Ukraine, and only relented once his illegal scheme came to light with the whistleblower report.https://www.cnbc.com/2019/11/27/trump-knew-about-whistleblower-complaint-before-ukraine-aid-released.html …

Irrelevant, because he was doing what the U.S. public (many of us anyway)wanted. That's just called "his job." He is allowed to benefit politically by doing his job.

So now Scott Adams says that the law and the Constitutional separation of powers is “irrelevant,” because he likes what the President is doing. Sorry Scott, but this is America: we are a nation of laws, not strongmen.pic.twitter.com/adCCYrlFRm

Just in case I wasn’t clear: We elected representatives to decide how our money should be spent. That’s their job, not the Trump’s prerogative. He secretly and corruptly usurped the power of another branch of government to further his own narrow interests. That’s illegal.

They haven't done that job in ages since they haven't passed the required appropriations bills since approximately 2006. CRs and Omnibus bills have been the SOP mess for far too long. DJT didn't create the Augean Stables in DC, he is just trying to clean it up.

This is woefully short-sighted. Even the president can't make decisions that violate the law just because a faction of his voters want him to.
