Here's where I would have to disagree with Scott, conditionally. It depends on which side of the vote I land on. If the law that was broken is one I believe in, I would have to not support a president that broke it. However, if I disagreed with the law, then I would support.

At least in that specific action. I typically don't support people or offices in general, but actions.

I appreciate the honest answer, one that is likely true to an extent. But as the POTUS, if you are caught committing an impeachable offense, if the political will exists, however partisan, to impeach, I think that sunlight is the best disinfectant, and we should keep open minds.

As there are undoubtably levels of corruption and malfeasance that the majority of us, on either side of the aisle, agree are intolerable to accept in our highest official.

The irony here is that the founders were entirely against direct democracy, being cynical of the average citizens ability, education, etc. Arguably our representative republic has contributed to what made America great in the first place

I find myself vacilating on that very issue often. There's a delicate balance somewhere between "we're really smart so clearly we know what's best", and the full on idiocracy that could occur.
