Is it okay for POTUS to pressure the Ukrainian president to require announcement of investigations of the family of his political rival and threatening to withhold security assistance and a meeting with Trump? Because that is what Taylor has described.

Knowing whether or not Biden is corrupt is in the National Interest. Therefore, it is a legal and proper question for the President to ask even if it benefits the President personally.

Counter-arguments: Why didn't Trump have the DoJ and FBI investigate? I=Investigation. If OK to investigate Biden for national interest, isn't Steele dossier & FISA also in NI? Why did Trump require public stmt on CNN before investigation began, rather than wait for conclusions?

Counter-counter argument: Obviously your plan wasn’t working. Clearly he would have tried that first.

Sorry, I didn't understand "Obviously your plan wasn't working". You mean that Trump couldn't get the FBI to investigate the Bidens? Just trying to understand your point!

He wouldn’t try to fix a system that wasn’t broken. His involvement shows the normal channels didn’t work, or were not fast enough.

I agree with one part at least. Trump could not get normal channels in early 2016 to push the Ukrainian government to pursue actions that would hurt his perceived chief 2020 rival, so he had to create the three amigos shadow team to pressure Ukraine to help his political needs.

I am just interested in learning the facts. I seriously doubt if the Democrats will give up on impeachment no matter what happens, and I doubt the Republican Senate will vote to convict no matter what. I just want voters like me to know the facts.

That’s one explanation. Another explanation is the normal channels shut down the “investigation” because there was no factual basis to start one.

Kudos though for no longer pretending it was about “corruption” as you did 11 hrs ago. How many people does it take to count as “the public”? And how were those people counted?
